Experts respond to study on GM maize, herbicide and tumours in rats

20 September 2012

Scientists have quickly responded to a paper published yesterday on GM maize, herbicide and tumours in rats, criticising the study design, its methodology and statistical analysis.

The paper, Long term toxicity of a Roundup herbicide and a Roundup-tolerant genetically modified maize was published in the Journal Food and Chemical Toxicology.

We wrote to the authors yesterday to request full data sets for the study and their response to the criticisms about the study design, execution, treatment of animals and conclusions. We have collated a roundup of the criticisms of the study.
